Make a Joyful Noise

On Saturday, September 28, St. Thomas Anglican Church sponsored a wonderful learning session with Dr. Joy Berg.  We welcomed 30 attendees from our parish as well as from around the Edmonton area diocese and together had a wonderful morning exploring  "Make a Joyful Noise!" 

Dr. Berg packed the 90 minute session full of historical context, learning vocal techniques, understanding notation, harmonic stylings and singing together.  We had a very interesting romp through our music history! 

We learned so much about the development of our sacred music,  the history that surrounded the changes of styles and text and also the amazing musicians and poets that created our beloved hymns of the past and present.   

The 90 minutes flew by and we have had wonderful feedback from those attending.

We would recommend this learning session to anyone and look forward to having Dr. Berg back to share her wisdom with us in the future.
