Hello I’m Chelsy!
I’m proud to call the Diocese of Edmonton my home. Before being ordained I grew up in Ponoka, Alberta, the most southern point of the Diocese of Edmonton. It was in Ponoka that I became actively involved in the life and work of the church and started to sense a call to ordained ministry as a possible vocation in my life.
I received Bachelor of Arts degree in Music (voice) from The Kings' University, Edmonton in 2005 and a Master of Divinity at Wycliffe College, Toronto in 2009.
I have had the privilege in my ministry to serve in many different Anglican churches in Edmonton, Toronto and Belize, Central America. After returning from Central America and Ontario I was ordained and began my ministry in the parish. I’ve had the great pleasure of serving as the Rector of St. Mary’s in Vegreville, St. Matthew’s in Viking, St. John’s in Sedgewick and St. George’s in Fort Saskatchewan. I’ve also served as the Associate Priest at Christ Church in Edmonton where I was responsible for Children’s Ministry as well as a plethora of other ministries. In 2016 I was installed the Canon Pastor for Rural Ministry in the Diocese of Edmonton. I provide support and encouragement to rural priests and parishes as they navigate their mission and ministry in their communities through community visits and providing resources for all to share. As well as making sure that the rural perspective and voice is represented within the life and ministry of the diocese.
My husband Jordan and I met in Vegreville and we’ve been married for 8 years. We moved to Sherwood Park in 2015 and have called this place home ever since. We have a curious, creative, and active six year old son named Maks.
There are many things about the church that I love. I have a real passion and love for incarnational ministry. For the building up of the community in the Kingdom of God, through relationships within God’s church. I love having the opportunity everyday to encourage and equip people in their life and work in proclaiming the Good News of Jesus Christ. In short, I love God, I love God's people and I love seeing God at work in the world!!
I look forward in the months to come to getting to know you better and sharing the love of Christ in our community.
